50mm binoculars are the "bread and butter" of the binocular species. They are general purpose and suitable for most applications. If you've ever held a pair of binoculars in your life they've likely been 10x50s. They offer ample light gathering for most uses, are small enough to fit in your glove box, rucksack or panniers and easy to hold.
But most manufacturers try to cut corners and make them as cheaply as possible. Our 50mm's are made with superior BAK-4 prisms (most others are inferior BAK-7s) but are still great value. BAK-4's give a brighter, sharper image but cost more as they're denser. We see no reason to offer customers an inferior product just because they don't need 60mm or larger lenses!
They can be tripod mounted using our inexpensive L bracket (see Accessories) but are easily light enough to hand hold for long periods. A tripod makes all binoculars easier to use, sadly not all of our competitors offer this facility on 50mm binoculars.
